JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The main purpose of the Sustainability manager is to ensure that resources are managed in a way that does not compromise the environment or deplete the materials for future generations. The sustainability effort is also a key component for our business to meet our customers' requirements and to secure the company position in the long term.
This requires taking a lead role within the area. In leading and monitoring sustainability projects, in delivering sustainable and low energy / low carbon projects, in communicating and ensuring proper reporting.
The role demands an understanding of engineering in relation to reuse, remanufacturing, recycling, energy monitoring & targeting, energy efficiency measures and the effects of carbon emissions and how to reduce them.
Responsibilities

- Be an efficient team player working well with all stakeholders (central team, regional team, local team, top management, different functions, sites, suppliers, and local administration…)
- Travel in the area
- Project
- Drive sustainability projects in the area. Support action plan definitions, implementation tracking and reporting
- Track and follow up data reporting (energy consumption and efficiency, Green House Gas emissions, water consumption, waste management…).
- Use and Consolidate Knauf standardized reporting KPIs
- Communicate with BUs and plants, ensure proper information sharing
- Support Steerco preparations
- Engage teams in sustainability actions, motivate teams, recognize good performance and support teams facing difficulties
- Build up a long sustainability roadmap for every single entity in the area
- Technical
- In plants but also at the country level, analyze and evaluate energy & CO2 reduction potentials in the plants by periodic audits and assessments
- Support sustainability improvement actions in the area
- Identifying sustainability risks and appropriate mitigation measures and highlighting any opportunities to improve sustainability performance.
- Assist in preparing sustainability technology studies to support investment preparation
- Assist, where necessary, in planning and permitting approval applications.
- Ensure that digital tools implementation will fully support sustainability purposes (KPIs and data well recorded in Knauf systems (RESMA), proper analysis…)
- Support best practice exchange
- Contribute to the Company's Network and exchange with central functions (Production Support, Engineering, R&D)
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent level) in a sustainable, environmental, or engineering area
- Experience in multinational and cross-functional projects
- Experience in sustainability
- Experience in the gypsum, process, and construction material industry will be a plus
- Management skills:
- Project management
- Change Management: good skills in communication & motivation of plant teams, and organizing training
- Adapting communication to various levels (plant, administration, technical teams, top management…)
- Technical skills:
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in sustainability
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in one (or more) following fields:
- Thermodynamic, thermal processing and industrial processing
- Combustion
- Steam
- Electricity optimization and management
- Global energy optimization
- Waste management
- Perform Energy audits at the site level and have strong analytics capabilities
- Experience with data recording and analysis
- Able to look for state of the art of energy efficiency technologies and sustainability technologies from other industries and public domain
