JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the institution’s financial resources, financial reporting, financial transactions as well as directing the establishment of financial policies & procedures.

Responsibilities

• Establishes, monitors and enforces finance controls within the institution
• Ensures all financial reports (internal and statutory reporting) are prepared in a timely manner and all information reported is accurate, reflecting the financial well-being of the institution
• Provides leadership to the budgeting process, monitors expenditures against budget and takes corrective actions where required
• Oversees the execution of day-to-day financial processing activities
• Leads the evaluation of proposed business activities and transactions such as acquisitions, investments, capital expenditure, divestitures, mergers, or sale of assets.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with financial institutions & investment analysts
• Serves as a counsel to the business in escalating financial irregularities, non-compliance and opportunities to the senior management team
• Establishes financial policies & procedures that mitigate financial risks to the institution

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/ finance is required
• Qualified Accountant with ACCA / CIMA or equivalent is required
• A Master’s degree in accounting finance is highly preferred 
• Minimum 15 years of experience in accounting/ finance function with progressive management experience

• Membership in professional bodies or additional certifications are considered a plus point
