JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose
To lead a team of project managers, consultants, and contractors from inception to completion of projects. To ensure that all authorities’ approvals and delivery of projects are on schedule, compliant to regulatory requirements, and within the company’s quality standards and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Plan, monitor & coordinate with project consultants and contractors from inception to completion of the project.
- Maintain and strengthen the relationship with peer functions such as cost and contract department, design department, township department, sales & marketing department, customer service department, and finance department for product development and delivery of the project as per the agreed schedule, within budget and company’s quality standard.
- Ensure a collaborative and joint problem-solving approach between Project Management, Design, and Cost & Contracts departments concerning quality, cost, and time that arise during ongoing construction.
- Liaise with authority for all submissions and obtain approval within the timeframe for land matter, planning approval, building plan, and occupation permit.
- Oversee and monitor the work progress of the ongoing project in accordance with the works program, contract, and specification and provide regular project portfolio updates to the COO and Project Management Team.
- Ensure project contracts are administered properly by consultants.
- Selection, recommendation, and appointment of project consultants.
- Oversee technical support on building works during and after the defect liability period according to project guidelines based on feedback from all sources, including the project post-occupancy review process.
- Develop and nurture a high-performing team of Project Managers by supporting various people management activities including recruitment, performance planning and evaluation, and training and development.
Key Challenges
- The ability to follow through planning and project implementation stage, forecasting potential problems that arise and initiate corrective action by working closely with various stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Sustain credibility, gain respect, develop leadership capabilities and build collaborative working relationships with various stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Promote a problem-solving orientation to manage interests of operational functions, while keeping customer satisfaction and shareholder value objectives as paramount.
- Leading the consultant & contractor team to complete the project within stipulated timeline, budget and quality workmanship.
- To motivate and coach staff, to keep good morale of each staff and ensuring they are motivated and function effectively and efficiently.
- Bachelor degree in Building / Civil Engineering
- Higher education i.e. master's degree, and being a member of a professional board will be an added advantage
- Professional membership of IEM/PAM is desirable
