JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Manage all aspects of the assigned plant production to achieve relentless improvement through Lean Manufacturing as our operational strategy, striving to achieve value stream and business unit goals and strategic directives.

Functional Contributions

  • Provides staff development
  • Guides the implementation of operations strategies
  • Determines best practices to achieve goals
  • Uses the Watlow Way (WW) and the Watlow Business System WBS as the thinking and methods of how we do and improve our work
  • Understands the Value delivered by the organization and the inter-relationships required to deliver it.
  • Applies organizational metrics and correlates the relevance to business success
  • Identifies changes and trends in processes, and requirements
  • Leads organizational initiatives to achieve Best Practices, financial results or Lean objectives
  • Establishes and ensures adherence to budgets and business plans
  • Applies critical thinking to information received and evaluates the best decision for organizational success

  • Manage all aspects of assigned plant production teams necessary to achieve value stream and business unit goals and objectives.
  • Create and/or foster a leadership environment that is conducive to teamwork and otherwise demonstrates genuine concern for the personal and professional development of all manufacturing employees.
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and control of manufacturing processes, budgets, plans, and performance standards.
  • Forecast production and inventory requirements in support of the Sales and Operations Financial Planning (SOFP) process.
  • Ensure that Continuous Improvement (CI)/Lean concepts and techniques are utilized (the way we do and improve our work) throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure the development and deployment of a safe and healthy work environment including appropriate training in safety practices.
  • Coordinate purchasing and material control processes to ensure product availability, quality, and to minimize inventory carrying costs.
  • Assist with the transfer of products from concept to commercialization.
  • Establish goals and targets that support the value stream strategy and business commitments 

Business Partner:

  • Participate in value stream leadership team
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Manager to implement TPM plan
  • Build and develop continuous improvement plans as part of the Value Stream
  • Collaborate with Value Stream Leader to implement SOFP, Capital Plan, and Succession Planning for Value Stream

Education, Experience and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Technical certification preferred
  • Project management experience
  • Leadership training
  • 7-10 years of lean leadership experience preferred
