Job Purpose
The primary role of the Regional Licensing Compliance Manager is to increase the focus on software piracy within the allocated geographic region, in order to maximise the revenue generation opportunities that come from making end-users fully compliant, whilst simultaneously raising regional awareness (both internally and externally) that OUR CLIENT has a zero tolerance attitude towards piracy and software misuse.
Dimensions
The Regional Licensing Compliance Manager will be accountable for planning, structuring, and leading the execution of all anti-piracy and compliance initiatives within the allocated region.
Principal Accountabilities
– To be accountable for the regional execution of OUR CLIENT’s anti-piracy and compliance programme, including (but not limited to):
(a) Regional implementation of OUR CLIENT’s corporate policies to govern the strategic and operational activities of the programme
(b) Regional implementation of OUR CLIENT’s corporate processes to forecast, track, monitor and record all activities relating to the programme
– To work with members of the global compliance team to
(a) Identify suspected non-compliant organisations operating within the allocated region
(b) Gather intelligence and/or evidence to support compliance enforcement
(c) Investigate the supply side of regional software piracy, keeping the global compliance and licensing teams updated on the processes and methods used by suppliers to “crack” OUR CLIENT software
– To prepare compliance enforcement strategies pertaining to identified non-compliant organisations that operate within the allocated region
– Subject to approval from the Vice President of Planning & Strategy , to execute appropriate compliance enforcement strategies, progressing each case to a satisfactory conclusion
– To work closely with OUR CLIENT’s Regional Sales, Business Development and Legal departments to generate revenue from OUR CLIENT customers who are identified as non-compliant in the use of OUR CLIENT software
– Where appropriate, to develop regional partnerships with external companies (e.g. BSA, ViLabs) and lawyer firms (subject to approval from OUR CLIENT Group Legal) in pursuit of OUR CLIENT’s anti-piracy and compliance programme
Important Working Relationships
In addition to maintaining strong working relationships with all OUR CLIENT groups, the role will also require the ability to work with strategic partners at a senior level to maintain the integrity and resilience of OUR CLIENT’s anti-piracy programme.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
– You will be experienced in the field of software compliance, anti-piracy and/or intellectual property protection
– You will be experienced in compiling evidence to support proposed criminal action or civil litigation, and will be familiar with working within strict legal guidelines in this context
– You will have a proven track record of working with interdisciplinary teams, together with experience of managing partner relationships
– You will work closely with the OUR CLIENT sales teams to ensure that the anti-piracy and compliance programme is seen as a collaborative lead generation and conversion activity that enables the group sales organisation to generate more revenue
– You will be experienced in working with legal teams to create licensing agreements that maximise OUR CLIENT’s revenue, and protect OUR CLIENT’s intellectual property
– You will be experienced in working with licensing technology specialists in order to guide and shape OUR CLIENT’s product security strategies
– Although not a prerequisite, you will have a broad understanding of software licensing technology
– Although not a prerequisite, you will ideally have experience of collaborating with international legal/law enforcement organisations/agencies.
– You will be a self-starter, and able to lead from the front
– You will have sound commercial and analytical skills, together with the ability to think strategically
– You will possess strong communication skills in all forms – written, oral, email, presentation
– You will have good negotiation skills
