JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
To oversee the smooth running of the sea, inland waterway, land logistics Department and contributing to the overall effectiveness, development, management and profitability of the Company.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee all aspects of the management and compliance of transport operations which include land and inland waterway transport operations
- Ensure the outbound logistics control for cost and on-time delivery through proper management of transporters (both land and inland waterway)
- Ensure compliance with the relevant legislations set out by the Ministry of Transport, Immigration, Marine Department and etc
- Ensure a high standard of customer service both internally and externally
- Establish monitoring system to ensure full maintenance of the fleet in line with regulatory requirements, ensuring accommodation, crew members as well as the related documentation is up to date in line with legal, regulatory, safety and license obligation.
- Resolve day to day operational problems
- Hands-on and visible leadership style to engage, motivate a highly experienced team of staff
REQUIREMENTS
- Preferably qualified with a Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency or Master Mariner Class 1 Certificate of Competency Maritime And Port Authority, Marine Science/Merchant Marine
- Additional qualification - Master or Degree in Transportation or Logistics Management will be an added advantage
- Minimum 4 years of working experience in a senior management role and/ or a total working experience of not less than 6 years.
- Excellent knowledge of inland waterway and land logistics operational procedures, cargo loading & discharging, barging & shipping, time-chartered fleet (barges) operations, Port Marine Services and capacity planning.
- Excellent analytical & negotiation skills with proven ability to work steadily under pressure and various crisis situation
- Strong motivational leadership and influencing skills to achieve results
- Have a proven record of working within a similar position with up-to-date knowledge of transport standards and legislations
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize
- In-depth knowledge and commercial awareness of the fleet sector
- Fluency in Mandarin preferred as the role requires the candidate to deal with Mandarin speaking clients.
