JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose
- Responsible for maintaining the accounts of the Company
- Handle the full set of accounts and timely submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Prepare budget and monitor budget variances
- Participate in system improvements and implementations.
- Finance
- To ensure the closing of the monthly accounts and review all accounting schedules to ensure the accuracy and completeness of monthly reporting.
- Maintenance and timely submission for all statutory reports, monthly management reports, audit and ad hoc reporting.
- Monitors, reviews and interprets accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness;
- Oversees daily processing and accounting for revenue and expenditures by departments; reviews and reports financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standard and audit procedures.
- Oversees the supervision of finance staff, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations
- Participation in system improvements and implementations.
- Recommends improvement to the system
- Actively participate in system implementation
- Attends to queries from departmental heads on problems on system relating to financial aspects
- Responsible for controlling and creation of chart of accounts
- Provide input towards any system modeling and testing
- Monitors and maintains key accounting information for the operating unit within the finance system.
- Preparation of budgets and monitoring of budget variances
- Prepare the annual budget and the revised forecast
- Account for variance between actual and budget
- Highlight to management on the shortfall of KPI
- Participate in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning;
- Participate in the implementation of projects and programs to assist in the accomplishment of established goals.
- Internal control and credit control
- To develop financial and operational control in collaboration with other departments within the organization
- Monitor outstanding debtors and follow up with departmental heads on overdue debts
- Communication
- Establish plan and schedules work for the department to meet deadlines and ensure the completion of tasks assigned by the superior from time to time.
- Liaise and discuss with auditors to ensure internal and statutory audits are carried out smoothly;
- Liaise with suppliers, customers and tax authorities.
- CBU costing
- Vehicles costing for CBU for transfer pricing
- Check prices charged by the principals for any increase or reduction in price. Obtain explanations for variances in price
- Payments
- Verify payments prepared by staff to supporting documents.
- As authorized cheque signatory
- Taxation
- Ensure tax computation is prepared in accordance with the Income Tax Act and ensure the companies conform to the tax regulations.
- Risk Management
- Work with the Head of Department in developing controls and measures to mitigate the risks.
- Monitor from time to time the major risks faced by the companies.
- Operational Control
- Conduct checks and discussions with staff at the operations level in identifying ways to enhance the profit and control costs.
- Provide support and guidance to the Managers in terms of cost control measures and highlight major variances.
Requirements
- Education/Professional Qualification
- Professional Accounting Examination such as ACCA, CPA, CCA or ICMA
- MIA member
- Knowledge of Finance
- Qualified Accountant and member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants
- At least 5 years of working experience in the finance department and have led a team of at least 3 staff in the department
- Have an aptitude for systems development as a key finance user.
- Spreadsheet software skills to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
- Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures with the auditors and tax authorities.
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of budgeting, and cost control procedures.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections
- Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Employee development and performance management skills.
- Professional Experience
- 8-10 years working experience heading finance and/or accounting departments
- Experience in a computerized integrated accounting environment
- Preferably with experience in the automotive industry OR, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
