Job Title

Senior Technical Sales Specialist, Marine (Enterprise Resource Management Solution)

Reports to

Technical Manager

Job Purpose

The Senior Technical Sales Specialist is a key role in contributing to the growth of business within the region, providing outstanding consultancy and pre-sales support for Our Client’s applications and/or other supported client software. This position may be required to travel at short notice to an office of Our Client, or customer location, anywhere in the region or around the world.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Communicate the value proposition of Our Client’s solutions to prospects at presentations, workshops, industry events and seminars
  • Planning, creating, developing and delivering demonstrations that present the value of our solutions
  • Engaging with prospects to understand specific needs/problems and then devise appropriate technical solutions.
  • Preparing and presenting technical proposals to solve specific prospect needs/problems
  • Planning, creating, organising and executing proof of concept presentations and demonstrations to prospects that prove the value of our technical solution to their specific needs/problems

Important Working Relationships

  • Prospects: Develop good working relationships with clients and always provide the highest level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Sales: Work with the sales team in identifying opportunities, providing technical support at all levels of prospect engagement and ensuring throughout that proposed solutions are workable and are in-line with Our Client’s strategic objectives.
  • Technical: Work within a dynamic team and show flexibility in the use and development of personal and technical skills to maximize the team’s efficiency.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior employees

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

  • Technically competent in the understanding of Material Management, Planning, and Production/Construction.
  • Experience with the creation of material requisitioning, procurement, and planning. 
  • A good understanding of system integration related to ship design applications from design through to materials management used in the shipbuilding industry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region and abroad to perform consultancy tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate the needs/problems of prospective customers with little guidance.
  • The ability to effectively manage and handle multiple and possibly competing commitments simultaneously.
  • Proven customer-facing skills and the ability to present complex technical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience with technical proposals and the creation of proof of concept demonstrations and presentations.
  • High level of expertise with the tools required to fulfill the obligations of the specific assignment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven 4 years or more experience in Our Client’s products or similar technologies.
  • Proven 7 years or more experience in and knowledge of the Marine engineering, design, procurement and construction business either from a shipyard, software vendor, or an engineering contractor background.
