Job Purpose

The Application Consultant is a key role in contributing to the growth of business within the region, providing outstanding consultancy and pre-sales support for OUR CLIENT applications and/or other supported client software. This position may be required to travel at short notice to an OUR CLIENT office, or customer location, anywhere in the region or around the world.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Communicate the value proposition of our solutions to prospects at presentations, workshops, industry events and seminars
  • Contributing to the planning, creation, development and delivery of demonstrations that present the value of our solutions
  • Engaging with prospects to understand specific needs/problems and contributing to the development of appropriate technical solutions.
  • Contributing to the preparation and presentation of technical proposals to solve specific prospect needs/problems
  • Contributing to the planning, creation, organising and executing proof of concept presentations and demonstrations to prospects that prove the value of our technical solution to their specific needs/problems
  • Provides post-sales support as required by line management.  See post-sales job description for details of post-sales support activities.

  • Prospects: Develop good working relationships with clients and always provide the highest level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Sales: Work with the sales team in identifying opportunities, providing technical support at all levels of prospect engagement and ensuring throughout that proposed solutions are workable and are in-line with OUR CLIENT’s strategic objectives.
  • Technical: Work within a dynamic team and show flexibility in the use and development of personal and technical skills to maximize the team’s efficiency.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior employees

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region and abroad to perform consultancy tasks.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate the needs/problems of prospective customers with some assistance and direction.
  • The ability to effectively manage and handle multiple and possibly competing commitments simultaneously with some direction and guidance.
  • Experience in a customer focused environment, including the ability to present technical data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience with technical proposals and the creation of proof of concept demonstrations
  • High level of expertise with the tools required to fulfil the obligations of the specific assignment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven 2 years or more experience of OUR CLIENT products or similar technologies.
  • Proven 2-5 years or more experience and knowledge of the plant engineering, design, procurement and construction business either from an owner-operator or an engineering contractor background.
