JOB DESCRIPTION

This role need to provide timely, relevant and accurate financial information to Finance – Business Planning for management decision making and monitoring purposes, including communication to external parties. This includes:

Group financial reporting to meet both internal and external reporting requirements; and ensure compliance with relevant applicable accounting standards, Companies Act and Bursa Malaysia Main Market Listing Requirements (“Listing Requirements”) as well as SKMM Accounting Separation (“AS”) Regulated Reporting Requirements;

• Drive and plan group monthly closing, quarterly review and annual statutory audit to meet regulatory timelines and management requirements;
• Overall responsible for accounting and producing financial statements of Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd and other non key operating entities (as listed below).

What are you accountable for?

• Co-ordinate, consolidate, review, analyse and approve Maxis Group and Segmental financial data for submission to Finance – Business Planning, directors and shareholders on monthly, quarterly, yearly or ad-hoc basis by co-ordinating submissions and obtaining input from other finance team
• Independently co-review accounting papers as and when require to ensure compliance with Maxis accounting policies, relevant accounting standards and guidelines by understanding the issues and management business model and directions/decision.
• Review and approve monthly financial statements and their quarterly/yearly audit schedules of Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd and other non key operating entities (e.g. Maxis Berhad, Advanced Wireless Technologies Sdn Bhd, UMTS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Maxis Multimedia Sdn Bhd, Maxis Collections Sdn Bhd, Maxis Mobile Sdn Bhd, Maxis Mobile (Labuan) Ltd to provide timely and accurate financials by applying appropriate accounting standards and aligning to internal management direction/decision
• Co-ordinate, consolidate, direct , review and recommend all related Audit Committee, BOD, shareholders, Bank Negara Malaysia, Department of Statistics reportings on month, quarter and annual basis to meet statutory and regulatory reporting obligations and requirements by understanding new and existing approved accounting standards, Companies Act 1965, relevant technical pronouncements, etc.
• Plan, facilitate and manage group’s annual statutory audit process to ensure timely completion of annual audit and approval of group financial statements by planning and executing a proper year end audit process, working closely with external auditors, timely communicate with all involved parties and ensuring timely resolution of audit issues.
• Develop, direct, co-ordinate, review and recommend all product costs (non network) to meet regulatory reporting (Accounting Separation) requirements on quarter and annual basis by understand cost causation principles, cost allocation methodology and work closely with Network Finance on product network costs
• Maintain, update and recommend enhancements to Maxis’ Financial Accounting Manual as and when required to reflect changes in Maxis accounting policies, new accounting standards, latest accounting issues and new products/business models by keeping updated on new/changes in business/company direction and accounting developments
• Direct, develop, maintain financial reporting systems, policies, processes and procedures to ensure timely, reliable and accurate reporting of financial numbers on day to day basis by understanding internal business operating models, operating risks, processes, policies, procedures, control principles, etc
• Lead and set annual departmental goals and objectives for Group Reporting & Accounting team. Develop, coach and counsel team members on ad hoc and annual basis by understanding their development points, training needs and career development plans

What do you need to have for this role?

• Post Graduate Certificate / Diploma specialised in: Accounting and Finance
• Total Relevant Experience: 11 to 15 years in Central finance functions of a public listed company
• Strong and solid technical knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards and Bursa Malaysia’s Listing Requirements
• Strong and solid group consolidation techniques/experience
• Meticulous and a detailed oriented person and able to work independently under tight deadlines
• Well verse in Microsoft Excel and Power Point presentation skills
