JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Objectives

Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Director/Senior Manager leads the Group financial reporting, consolidation, tax compliance and tax planning functions. The role is accountable for the timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements, regulatory and management reporting, consistent application of Group accounting policies, and effective tax governance across the Group.

The position supports the VP-Finance in maintaining financial-reporting integrity, strengthening consolidation processes and controls, managing statutory and tax obligations, identifying tax optimisation opportunities, and providing clear financial insights to senior management, the Audit Committee and the Board.

Responsibilities

1. Group Financial Reporting & Consolidation

•Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual Group closing and consolidation process, including the review of submissions from subsidiaries and business units.

•Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, management reports, quarterly Bursa Malaysia announcements and annual-report financial disclosures within agreed timelines.

•Ensure compliance with MFRS/IFRS, Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements, the Companies Act and other applicable reporting requirements.

•Review consolidation entries, intercompany balances and eliminations, foreign-currency translation, impairment assessments and complex accounting matters; maintain Group accounting policies, reporting instructions and consolidation controls.

2. Financial Reporting Governance & Controls

•Establish the Group reporting calendar, standard templates and review protocols; monitor reporting quality, resolve material issues and drive improvements in consolidation systems, data integrity, automation and internal controls.

3. Tax Compliance & Planning

•Oversee the Group’s corporate income tax, indirect tax, withholding tax, deferred tax and other tax matters across all relevant jurisdictions.

•Ensure accurate and timely tax computations, returns, payments, transfer-pricing documentation and statutory submissions, supported by appropriate tax controls and records.

•Lead tax planning and optimisation initiatives, evaluate the tax implications of business transactions and corporate exercises, monitor legislative developments, and manage tax audits, disputes and incentives in consultation with the VP-Finance and external advisers.

4. Management, Board & Statutory Reporting

•Prepare and review financial analyses, management reports and reporting papers for the VP-Finance, CFO, Audit Committee and Board.

•Coordinate statutory financial statements and audits for the holding company and Group entities, ensuring consistent accounting positions and timely issue resolution.

•Provide clear analysis of financial results, significant accounting judgements, tax exposures and reporting risks, with recommended actions for senior management.

5. Stakeholder Management

•Act as the principal finance contact for external auditors, tax agents and authorities on Group reporting, consolidation, statutory audit and tax matters, escalating significant issues to the VP-Finance.

•Partner with subsidiary finance teams and business leaders to improve submission quality, resolve accounting and tax issues, and ensure adherence to Group policies and deadlines.

6. Process Improvement & Finance Transformation

•Drive standardisation, automation and continuous improvement of Group reporting, consolidation and tax processes, including stronger data governance and documentation.

•Support finance-system enhancements and transformation projects sponsored by the VP-Finance, ensuring reporting and tax requirements are embedded in process design.

7. Strategic & Transaction Support

•Support the VP-Finance on acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, financing and other corporate exercises by assessing accounting, consolidation, reporting and tax implications.

•Coordinate financial due diligence, purchase-price accounting, pro forma reporting and tax input with internal stakeholders and professional advisers.

•Prepare relevant financial information and recommendations for management, Board papers and regulatory submissions.

8. Leadership & Team Management

•Lead, coach and develop the Group reporting, consolidation and tax team; set clear priorities, service standards and succession plans.

•Promote accountability, technical excellence, collaboration and timely escalation across the Group finance community.

9. Other Responsibilities

•Undertake other duties assigned by the VP-Finance and participate in strategic finance projects consistent with the scope and seniority of the role.

Requirements

•Degree in Accounting, or Professional certification: CPA, ACCA, CA(M), or equivalent

•MIA membership is preferred

•Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience, with substantial hands-on responsibility for group reporting, consolidation and taxation in a complex or listed-company environment.

•In-depth knowledge of MFRS/IFRS, Group consolidation, Bursa Malaysia reporting requirements, Malaysian taxation and transfer-pricing compliance; regional tax exposure is an advantage

•Strong leadership, technical accounting, analytical, project-management and stakeholder-management capabilities, with the ability to communicate complex financial and tax matters clearly to senior management
