JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The role serves as the CFO's second-in-command, providing leadership and oversight across Group financial reporting and consolidation, treasury, tax, insurance, Finance Shared Services, and the Finance Centre of Excellence. Support the CFO in corporate exercises, strategic initiatives, sustainability and finance-related enterprise risk management while ensuring strong financial controls, regulatory compliance and effective management of Group financial resources.
Responsibilities
1. Deputy to CFO & Finance Leadership
- Act as the CFO's second-in-command and provide leadership continuity.
- Translate the CFO's priorities into finance plans, policies, controls and deliverables.
- Represent the CFO at management, Board or committee meetings when delegated.
2. Group Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.
- Oversee Bursa Malaysia announcements, annual reports and statutory filings.
- Ensure compliance with MFRS, IFRS, Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements and Companies Act.
- Maintain strong consolidation, controls, disclosures and audit readiness.
3. Treasury & Capital Management
- Oversee Group liquidity, cash flow, funding and banking facilities.
- Manage FX exposure and treasury controls.
- Optimise cash deployment, borrowing costs and capital structure.
- Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions.
4. Tax Compliance & Planning
- Oversee corporate tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing.
- Ensure timely tax filings and compliance.
- Lead tax planning and assess tax implications of business initiatives.
5. Group Insurance
- Oversee the Group's insurance programme, risk assessment, renewals, premiums and claims.
- Manage broker and insurer relationships.
6. Finance Shared Services
- Provide strategic oversight of AP, AR, treasury operations and centralised finance activities.
- Drive standardisation, productivity, controls and service quality.
- Strengthen governance, segregation of duties and performance measurement.
7. Finance Centre of Excellence
- Standardise finance policies, processes and operating practices.
- Lead finance transformation, systems implementation, automation and analytics.
- Drive continuous improvement and digital finance capabilities.
8. Corporate Exercises & Strategic Support
- Support M&A, divestments, restructuring, fundraising and joint ventures.
- Coordinate financial due diligence, valuation, modelling and transaction structuring.
- Support Board papers, Bursa announcements and strategic financial analysis.
9. Sustainability & Enterprise Risk
- Support sustainability governance, targets, performance monitoring and disclosures.
- Oversee finance-related risks including reporting, liquidity, FX, credit, tax, insurance and finance-process risks.
10. Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong financial controls and audit governance.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, company secretaries, regulators, insurers and bankers.
- Communicate material financial and risk matters to CFO and senior management.
11. People Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop finance leaders and teams.
- Build succession depth and accountability across geographically dispersed teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or professional qualification such as CA(M), ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
- MIA member or eligible for MIA membership.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive finance experience.
- Minimum 5 years in senior finance leadership overseeing multiple finance functions.
- Experience in a sizeable, complex or listed Group.
- Strong Group financial reporting and consolidation experience.
- Strong knowledge of MFRS / IFRS, Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements and Companies Act.
- Broad experience in Treasury, Funding, Tax, Insurance, Financial Controls, Audit and Risk Management.
- Experience leading Finance Shared Services and Finance Centre of Excellence.
- Experience in finance transformation, systems implementation, automation, analytics and process improvement.
- Exposure to M&A, divestment, restructuring, fundraising, JV, due diligence, valuation and financial modelling.
- Understanding of sustainability governance and finance-related disclosures.
- Strong ability to act as strategic partner and Deputy to CFO.
- Strong leadership and people-development capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, commercial, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Able to engage with Board, senior management, auditors, bankers, regulators and professional advisers.
- High integrity, professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Proficient in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Willing to travel overseas when required.
