JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Lead, Legal Counsel for Southeast Asia, is expected to collaborate with various functions to provide proactive, agile and comprehensive legal support in different jurisdictions of Southeast Asia (mainly Singapore and Malaysia) to achieve the company’s goals.
Responsibilities
- Become a trusted advisor providing counsel and representation to senior leaders in Singapore and Malaysia, and advise global leaders on risks and opportunities specific to Singapore and Malaysia
- Negotiate, review and advise on strategic agreements relating to our business in Singapore and Malaysia, such as key customer agreements, distribution agreements, supply agreements, construction and lease agreements and other legal documents as required by the business
- Support and advise on Mergers & Acquisitions
- Provide support and counsel to our HR, operations and EHS teams
- Manage local litigation matters and assist with resolving other disputes
- Support our global compliance program, including providing training and leading internal compliance investigations
- Keep abreast of major legal and statutory changes and apprise the management team and corporate legal team on a timely and comprehensive basis
- Work seamlessly with the global Law Department to support the company's international business
- Support the Law Department in increasing its operational efficiency and driving enhanced service delivery to our global clients
- Be responsible for coordinating company secretarial matters for the group’s legal entities
- Support to deliver legal training to business units, such as best practices on IP protection
Requirements
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in private law firms and/or corporate legal departments
- Strong English language skills
- Superior interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills in commercial matters
- Dedicated, motivated, proactive and team-spirited
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced business environment, and to manage multiple projects with multiple deadlines
- Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
- Prior experience of working with organisations with manufacturing capabilities in the semiconductor or technology industry is preferred
- Experience in corporate secretarial matters.
- License to practice law in the US, Malaysia or Singapore
