JOB DESCRIPTION


NATIONAL LABORATORY MANAGER

The successful candidate will report to the GM-Operations and be responsible for the management, direction and development of laboratory operations throughout Malaysia.

REQUIREMENTS

•Possess B.Sc or higher qualifications in relevant fields of study.

•Extensive pathology laboratory experience with strong management skills preferred.

•Comprehensive knowledge of routine diagnostic medical laboratory in the disciplines of Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Immunoassay, Microbiology and Molecular Biology. 

•Familiarity with Histology and Cytology is also required.

•Previous laboratory management and competency with computer based systems is preferred. 

•Strong PC skills are essential.

•Working knowledge of the requirements of ISO 15189 is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assistance by delegation to appropriately trained and experienced staff may be appropriate in order to discharge the following responsibilities.

12.Provide advice to those requesting information about menu of tests, the use of laboratory services and the interpretation of laboratory data.

13.Relate and function effectively with; 

a.applicable accrediting agencies and regulatory agencies

b.appropriate administrative officials

c.the health care community

d.the patient population served

14.Define, implement and monitor standards of performance and quality improvement of the medical laboratory services in collaboration with senior staff in all areas of the operation.

15.Maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 15189 and actively participate in the various quality improvement committees of the Company.

16.Ensure that all work performed in the laboratory generates reliable and accurate data.

17.** Ensure that there are sufficient qualified personnel with adequate documented training and experience to meet the needs of the laboratory.

18.Plan, set goals, develop and allocate resources appropriate to the medical environment.

19.Provide educational programs for the medical and laboratory staff and participate in educational programs of the institution.

20.Plan and direct research and development appropriate to the Company

21.** Select and monitor all referral Laboratories for quality of services.

22.Ensure a safe laboratory environment in compliance with good practice and applicable regulations.

23.Ensure that any complaint, request or suggestion from users is addressed.

24.Ensure good staff morale.
