GENERAL MANAGER – OPERATIONS

The successful candidate will report to the CEO and be responsible for the management, direction and development of the overall operations throughout Malaysia. Strategic planning, future proofing and continuous review of all operational aspects of the organization will be a crucial requirement of the successful candidate.

REQUIREMENTS

•Possess B.Sc or higher qualifications in relevant fields of study.

•Minimum of 10 years pathology laboratory experience with strong management skills preferred.

•Comprehensive knowledge of routine diagnostic medical laboratory in the disciplines of Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Immunoassay, Microbiology and Molecular Biology. 

•Familiarity with Histology and Cytology is also required.

•Experience in logistics and customer service environment.

•Previous laboratory management and competency with computer based systems is preferred. 

•Strong PC skills are essential.

•Working knowledge of the requirements of ISO 15189 is essential.

•Proven people management skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Direct, and oversee activities of divisions related with the laboratory operations, customer service and logistics.

2.Work with the respective heads of the 3 divisions to ensure management of staff, work schedules and assignment of specific duties.

3.Review financial statements, laboratory tests, consumables, activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing better efficiencies.  Formulate action plans to facilitate these improvements.

4.Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with heads of divisions, and staff members as necessary.

5.Determine / oversee staffing requirements, FTE to work ratios / analysis and training guidelines.

6. Monitor the divisions to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits.

7.Direct and coordinate the financial and budget activities and increase efficiency.

8.Work with National Laboratory Manager to 

a.Determine menu of tests to be carried out, instruments and set prices based on forecasts of marketing demand.

b.Manage consumables and labour costs.

c.Procurement and purchase negotiations.

d.Develop test menus.

e.New laboratory fitouts.

f.Yearly review of all operations.

9.Plan and direct activities other department heads as required.

10.Submit a monthly report to CEO on the operational activities.

11.Prepare and design budget for each financial year – to be done as a team with the appropriate EXCO members.
