JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The SDE, within the SQ Electrical Commodity, is in charge of:
- Ensuring the complete Process and Product release of new Electrical/Electronic components (with a special focus on LED Technology and LED Production Processes) bought from external suppliers, in cooperation with the development team (Project Buyer, Project Manager, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistic…) before the start of production
- Leading the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology, performing Supplier project review, process audit and supplier capacity check
- Preparing and participating in the Sourcing Process
- Managing the Improvement Programs with Suppliers
- Managing the Quality Contracts discussions with Suppliers
Responsibilities
- Follow closely the development of innovative/critical electrical/electronic devices (with a special focus on LED Technology components and LED Production Processes), applying the APQP methodology and evaluating possible risks since the early development phase.
- Support R&D, Project Buyer and Development Team in Supplier selection of new buy components from external suppliers and all sourcing phases
- Act as “One voice” towards Suppliers across all involved Divisions
- Ensure supply risk analysis evaluation in the early project phase
- Participate in Technical Analysis and validating Suppliers' solutions in terms of Quality, Technical/ Process, Capability and Timing; in line with the project team
- Ensure lessons learned application through feasibility commitment and Technical Analysis approval
- Ensure the implementation of Commodity state-of-the-art and best-in-class standards/practice requirements in supplier processes through the application of the Commodity Quality Checklist
- Ensure the transmission and implementation of Customer requirements
- Validate the APQP Review performed by or with the suppliers
- Follow up the planning, execution and completion of all tasks required for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) evaluation and approval (including tool payments when relevant and interim approval management when applicable)
- Support PPAP validation during the Change Management process and promote second sourcing
- Take decisions, solve problems autonomously, escalate properly
- Work across a global, matrixed organization, sharing and learning best practices
- Continuous cooperation with Project Buyer, Commodity Purchasing organization, Project team and Suppliers
- Participate in any relevant technical meeting with R&D and Suppliers
- Support the definition of the Request For Quotation Package for new components
- Perform requirements review and organize technical meetings and drawing/specifications reviews with suppliers and the Development Team
- Maintain all defined actions on track with the Suppliers, ensuring their availability on the APQP Data Base
- Apply the APQP Lessons Learned: measure the effectiveness of the APQP process application, using reverse APQP process analysis based on the review of product performances, measured 6 months after the start of production
- EDUCATION (SCHOOL/SPECIALIZATION): Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial sectors (electrical/electronic engineering, Physics or equivalent). Preferable/recommended: strong knowledge in the area of Semiconductors/Electronic Components with a special focus on LED (Light Emitting Diode) Technology and Process
- LANGUAGES: Fluent English (written, spoken)
- EXPERIENCES: Minimum 5 years in the industrial sector, with at least 2 years in the quality field; professional experience in the automotive industry preferred. Experience in the supplier quality field is highly preferred - good experience/knowledge of LED (Light Emitting Diode) Process Technology.

- Perfect knowledge in approaching new component development: supplier selection, Requirements definition, Advance Product Quality Planning, verification of production capacity, Initial Samples Control Reports validation, Production Part Approval Process; experience in Process Audit (qualified Auditor license according to VDA 6.3 is preferred)
- Knowledge and practice of quality tools: FMEA, Statistical Process Control, Process capabilities, problem-solving.. (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis, experience capitalization, etc.)
- Knowledge of Quality Norm IATF 16949, Quality, Environmental, Sustainability and safety requirements
- Good knowledge of MS Office suites
- Travel availability (30–50%)
