JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating projects, supervising teams, and researching new products. He/She develops strategies, manages budgets, and ensures successful project execution.  He/She works closely with teams and collaborates with other management personnel. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to various departments regarding all process matters to achieve the best possible results.
• Achieves all process parameters for new and current products at their utmost optimization.
• Provides technical support to customers on new product Design for Manufacturing (“DFM”) and quality improvement on existing products.
• Manages and supports engineering activities in troubleshooting process-related issues, to ensure efficient resolution and optimization.
• Assign engineers for relevant evaluation reports for the First Article (“FA”) and existing parts, ensuring thorough documentation.
• Monitors and manages the process of FA / Chargeable Samples to ensure the scheduled timelines are met.
• Leads, mentors, and inspires the team by providing guidance, coaching and support to help them achieve their full potential.
• Fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement within the team and company.
• Manages, organizes and prioritizes tasks and responsibilities of individual workers to ensure optimal use of resources and achieve operational efficiencies.
• Liaises with Production to ensure all new parts and processes are handed over properly.
• Works with Production in setting up and troubleshooting all parts and processes, as well as collecting defect data.
• Liaises with suppliers for all new engineering projects to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
• Work with R&D to conduct material evaluations (if needed) to improve parts quality, yield and cleanliness, to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Take up any task or assignment from top management from time to time.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical field 
• Proven work experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role.
• High preference for work experience in the metal sheet, or metal fabrication industry. 
• Preference with good work knowledge in Lean management.
• Proven project management skills.
• Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems.
• Math skills, including calculus and other advanced mathematics for developing new processes and products.
• Sound understanding in GD&T, DFM, MSA, DFMEA and PFMEA. 
• Familiar with office software, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion360, etc
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Independent, self-driven and results-oriented.
• Familiar with Excel and PowerPoint presentations.
• Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning 
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin, English and Malay. 
• Detail-focused, good sense of responsibility, and ability to work proactively.
• Ability to assign responsibilities to others as required and prioritize tasks.
• Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details, as a minor error can result in major problems.
