JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The incumbent will work alongside the Head of HR of Malaysia and be responsible for managing key HR functions from our plant HQ in Shah Alam which would cover the needs of our other plants such as Ipoh and Johor Bahru. This role will not cover the full spectrum of HR as it is more focused on Union Management, Workforce Management, Compliance, HR Operations & Employee Engagement. Experience in Talent Acquisition, Succession Planning, Talent Development & Organisational Development to drive – efficiency and structure will be a plus and candidates with such experience will be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Union management & Employee Engagement (20%)
    • Participate and drive regular engagement sessions with Union to ensure that all agreements are adhered to.
    • Familiarize, participate and drive CA related discussion/negotiation once every 3 years
    • Plan and own employee engagement activities through ER activities
    • Ensure that communications are well executed all the way down to the staff level
  • Workforce Management (50%)
    • Partners with the stakeholders to understand the manpower requirements of plants
    • Ability to manage manpower requirements from plants and work with recruiters ( in house & agencies )
    • Design / improve onboarding experience to ensure that employees are able to integrate into the company better
    • Ensure business and employee needs are taken care of in regards to workforce management
    • Acts as the point of contact for employee-related matters pertaining to plants.
    • Ability to advise and support Plant HR Managers in relation to employee-related matters in plants
    • Provide advice to managers and employees on employment regulations, interpretation of policy and procedures
    • Drives a high-performance culture to ensure that we have the best fit for the role
    • Drives a high-performance culture to ensure that employees have the right tools to perform to the best of their abilities
    • Ensure that each employee's yearly performance & goal setting/ratings are done accordingly
    • Ensure that steps are taken to address results of performance & goal settings
  • HR Operations & Compliance (30%)
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and employment law
    • Handling of compliance-related matters regarding employees and workplace
    • Consolidation of other Plant HR's reports / operational matters for an overview
    • Process improvement of existing processes which will not be migrated to Shared Service Centre
    • Back-up and HR operations &  Plant HR Managers as and when the need arises.
    • Prepare, review and analyse data to provide key decision-making points on core HR metrics
    • Maintains compliance with local employment laws and regulations
    • Recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance

Requirements

  • Educational/Professional Qualification
    • University Degree
  • Working Experience
    • 10+ years as an HR generalist with at least 5 years in a manufacturing/plant environment.
    • 5+ years experience dealing with unions, ideally
  • Other skills
    • Possess fundamental HR knowledge, skills and abilities regarding HR operations
    • Able to handle a high level of confidentiality
    • Flexibility to operate in a fast-paced environment and possess strong analytical, organizational and multi-tasking skills
