JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose
The purpose of the Transportation Business Partner is to ensure that all Business Units (BU’s) are using the optimal freight solution for their business. This includes sea transport (container and breakbulk), land transport and warehouse solution as well as insurances renewal that is attached together in the costing.
The main responsibility of this role is to achieve savings on transportation and storage for the Group.
The Transportation Business Partner needs to fully understand the Group’s business direction and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Strategize transportation and storage requirements for the BU’s.
- Maintain a good relationship with all relevant service providers.
- Provide guidance to the BU’s with regards to the best way to transport and store the products.
- To keep up with the latest information in terms of international shipping and freight issues.
- To negotiate or assist in negotiating rates with service providers (be it shipping lines, NVOCC’s, land transport carriers or agents/brokers), contributing to the bottom line of each BU.
- Provide an overview of required or available transport capacity for a specific period of time.
- To attend to ad-hoc issues related to transportation and storage.
- To ensure that the freight solution provided has the best interest of the Group.
- To ensure that we have the most cost-effective insurance coverage for each shipment.
- Disputes and claims – Manage and negotiate any disputes/claims with carriers or truckers.
