JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

We are looking for an early-career Software Engineer to join our Development team and be one of the "Smart" behind "Smart Insect Farm". You will assist to design, build and run our software systems for your colleagues and for our customers to use.

• Contribute to software development, IoT and automation-related projects and initiatives at the Company
• Help develop solutions for application and functionality through investigations, being the hero that analyses data from our teams in pursuit of simple, elegant and effective solutions.
• Assist in interfacing with your colleagues and customers - get their feedback, resolve the complex issues they may face.
• Maintain and manage all of our software systems and applications.
• Own the documentation of analyzed data, including the codes and applications.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or comparable practical experience.
• Fresh grads are welcomed but should display comprehension in various development environments and tech stacks.
• High-level of curiosity; you think deeply and cross-disciplinary about problems to identify pragmatic and cost-effective automation approaches. You can communicate your thought process, considerations and trade-offs clearly. You will need to learn from the team, for example about biological and zootechnical considerations to develop effective solutions supporting the insect biology.
• You also know how to use your time efficiently and draw on the team or external resources to get work done.
• Experience with various sensors, wired and wireless communication and software interfaces. Experience with both micro-controllers and PLCs.
• Strong attention to detail and high work standards; pro-active and independent thinking and problem-solving competence.

• Basic knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and analytics
• Preference for Malaysian candidates

• Cloud and on-premise application (NodeRed, CouchDB)
• Linux, Arduino, RPi-based IOT infrastructure; interfacing with industrial PLCs
• Focus on JS for both front and backend (angular & ionic)
• Github-based automation & container deployment
