Job Summary

As the Engineering Manager, you will be in charge of the overall delivery of our engineering roadmap and building a high-performance, world-class engineering organization within the company. In particular, you will lead the development of our Smart Insect Farm blueprint and construction and delivery of our network of distributed farms as well as new manufacturing plants and breeding centers. You will be involved from the beginning to the end of designing and developing the layouts, managing the engineering facility designs and technical documentation. With your engineering leadership, you will help us improve, accelerate, and fly high.

Responsibilities

• Develop world-class engineering organization within Protenga, develop the team's capabilities and implement best practices.
• Lead the delivery of Protenga's engineering roadmap, in particular our breeding technology and Smart Insect Farm blueprint. Help realize our ambition of rolling out dozens of decentralized Smart Insect Farms over the next few years.
• Develop new cutting-edge systems along the entire production process incorporating both software and hardware elements.
• Manage engineering projects, establishing the execution from the ground up; you will be responsible for the budget, timeline, and scope of our engineering team and projects.
• Develop further a high-quality engineering supply chain and vendor network.
• Ensure high safety standards from design to built. Ensure all staff is trained and equipped with company policies, procedures, and safety.
• Strategize vision for the teams - prepare and manage the execution, including the realization of the machinery and equipment
• Working closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure pragmatic, timely, and cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

• Min 10 years of experience in building production lines and manufacturing machinery, including procurement contract and risk management.
• You should have both hands-on technical experience as well as interdisciplinary team and project management experience, ideally across geographic locations and within leading engineering organizations.
• Master or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Software Engineering or similar.
• Experienced in planning and developing complex tech-engineering projects from scratch.
• Excellent written and spoken English; concise and confident technical and team communication.
• Malay and/or Chinese (spoken and written) skills are a plus.

• You are comfortable and energized working in an unconventional startup environment in between office, farm, and production plant.
• Experience in animal farming, food or feed manufacturing automation, agri-tech or similar is a plus.
