JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview
This key leadership position oversees an engineering team in the development of new products as well as the support of development activities which are engineered by other teams. This position also serves as a critical interface with plant operations, manufacturing engineering, and quality teams to help support current products, improve yields, solve manufacturing issues, and contribute to the resolution of quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Drives the transfer of engineering ownership of legacy products from the US to Kulim team, including NPD of improvement projects related to those products.
- Provides effective support and coordination of larger New Product Development projects driven by other engineering teams to improve problem-solving speed, reduce the number of mold iterations, and strengthen communication between teams.
- Participates in mold-sampling, tooling investigations, part design, and other hands-on problem-solving activities.
- Directs support of critical engineering tasks that need senior engineering engagement, as well as serving as a technical interface for customer interactions.
Required Competencies
- Broad knowledge of injection molding part design, tooling, processing, materials and assembly processes, and the ability to solve problems with this knowledge.
- Strong background in engineering disciplines including materials, mechanics, mechanisms, and occasional chemistry. "Jack of all trades".
- Ability to lead by example and work side-by-side with engineers and others. This means you can take control of the CAD station or press a few buttons on the molding machine if needed.
- Ability to understand and apply statistics for decision making and persuasion.
- Ability to create, present, and communicate technical material to internal teams and critical external customers.
- Ability to interface effectively interface with individual contributors in other functional areas.
