JOB DESCRIPTION

Job purpose and key deliverables 

Marketing Finance should provide proactive commercial insights and transparency of marketing decisions for effective resource allocation across the value chain. You will support the Head of Marketing Finance in leading the development of strong commercial awareness within the marketing function and also lead in the development of best practice methodologies. You will manage the Brand Finance team to provide value-added Financial Management, advice and information for Brand Marketing budgetary control, developing and executing Brand plans, and you will enable effective decision making. You will build strong financial and commercial awareness within the Brand Marketing function and promote an effective internal control environment.

Key Accountabilities

Ensure timely delivery of forecasting, budgeting and reporting requirements and delivers the required outputs for Planning and Reporting, Regional Marketing Finance and Marketing (for Brand Finance).

Ensure delivery of financial targets for Brand expenditure and overheads, Agency spend and Write off costs.

Contributes to the development of integrated business strategies in respect of portfolio and marketing investments from a commercial perspective, providing insights into the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing investments

Contribute and provide insights into resource allocation decision based on portfolio alignment, effectiveness of spend and longer term brand equity building

Provide financial input and control on any Brand Marketing related projects

Provide Brand Marketing management with timely financial information and financial / commercial advice to facilitate decision making and improve efficiency and effectiveness of spend

Provide inputs to brand activities and evaluation for cycle planning for effective trade implementation in the field.

Ensures robust business cases and post implementation reviews for major brand activities. This includes assisting with setting objectives and initiating evaluations for the various activities to ensure maximum effectiveness

Facilitate and provide inputs into Agency contract negotiations and ensure annual retainer is appropriate and well governed

Provide visibility on brand performance and profitability to the Sales and Operation Planning Forum. This will include internal and external benchmarking

Participate in the Product Development Team as well as, Cycle Planning forums with Marketing

Assume responsibility for and manage the Brand Marketing Finance team, ensuring that work is being carried out proficiently, flows smoothly throughout the unit, and is delivered on a timely basis whilst maintaining its quality standards

Ensure that finance resources are fully focused on effectively and efficiently adding value to the business, aiming to be recognized by the Marketing function as a value-adding business partner

Foster and promote a strong work environment by motivating people and engaging team members in regular discussions for feedback, coaching, and identification of staff development opportunities and training needs

Build effective networks with internal/external stakeholders, and Finance colleagues to improve understanding of marketing and finance strategies to drive effective results

Consistently increase the level of financial / commercial awareness within the marketing function by educating marketing managers to raise the level of objectivity behind marketing decisions

Essential requirements

Finance/ accounting degree or a professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA) and a minimum of seven years of relevant work experience

Preferably commercial experience in an FMCG or similar environment

Proactive approach and adaptable to a changing environment
