Job Title:   Director, International Sourcing

SUMMARY

Sourcing expert with responsibilities ranging from identification of potential suppliers through implementation of successful product launches.  Role focuses primarily on sourcing of commodity, raw materials, private label, and packaging.  The role requires extensive travel within China providing hands-on expertise to interact with our suppliers.  The Director of International Sourcing will provide deep expertise in sourcing, logistics, and operations to maximize supply chain and manufacturing efficiencies, work with Quality Management to ensure product quality is attained and reduce costs.

Must be able to offer multiple sourcing options that maximize profitability of products within the category.  Assist in gathering competitive intelligence and industry data to identify emerging trends and opportunities for new product introductions.

Monitor commodity pricing trends and other relevant variable and controllable costs – lead negotiations with international vendors as requested; consistently evaluate portfolio of products offered to meet business/customer needs and maximize profitability – develop alternate sources, when needed. 

Collaborate with sourcing staff in Shanghai and Singapore to ensure vendor compliance with their contracts and are meeting performance metrics, service agreements and deliverables.

Maintain strong supplier relationships, and build partnerships with key vendors.  Work effectively with suppliers and international sourcing teams on resolving issues with supply chain in accordance with policy and practices; however with a level of creativity and resourcefulness that delivers successful solutions.

Co-lead with the Quality Manager the supplier selection process and make effective recommendation on finalist founded on fact-based information and absolute capabilities to deliver on applicable supply chain requirements

Assist with key business processes including budgeting, quarterly business reviews and other strategic sessions.  Must be able to lead multiple projects and prioritize deliverables as the business climate shifts. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly responsible for managing a team of sourcing specialist, while providing general oversight on the administrative office activities. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Travel:  Domestic and International travel may be required up to 30% of the time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BS degree or equivalent, MBA preferred, with 5 years applicable experience in toll manufacturing and International sourcing.  Experience in manufacturing and the medical products industry are strongly desired.   

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS and REASONING ABILITY

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply analytical concepts to practical situations.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
