JOB DESCRIPTION
Objective
Lead the accounting team and own the related financial processes to provide full accounting support for Our Client’s businesses in Malaysia and Singapore, delivering the following
1. Ensuring the full financial compliance, in line with the group policies for the region
2. Responsible for the financial consolidation, statements and financial internal/external controls of Our Client’s activities for Malaysia and Singapore
3. Manage administrative systems and procedures in adherence with the local and Our Client Group policies. Work with the Finance Director to implement the organization’s financial and tax plans and policies.
The Chief Accountant will assume the above responsibilities for all the legal entities forming the group of entities within Our Client Malaysia and Singapore Group.
The Chief Accountant will work hand in hand with the Strategic Financial Controller to manage the statutory accounting requirements, and the requirements of group reporting.
Responsibilities and tasks
1. Timely and accurate preparation and submission of financial & management reports, AR and AP analysis, working capital and fixed asset management for Our Client’s business in Malaysia.
2. Put in place “simplification initiatives” to monitor the workload of the accounting department in a growing business environment.
3. Drive successful ERP implementation.
4. Drive various key activities pertaining to the internal control review and implementation across all functions with the departments.
5. Manage finance functions in performing other account related functions such as bank reconciliation, GL account analysis, cash flow projection, forecast, month end provisions and related activities.
6. Fixed assets capitalizations and depreciations.
7. Reviewing periodic Management Accounts.
8. Day to day banking and collection management.
9. Ensure compliance on matters relating to audit, tax and statutory requirements, including GST.
10. Ensuring smooth operation of the MIS & Computerized Accounting System.
11. Liaising with auditors’ tax agents, statutory bodies, etc.
12. Undertake assignments delegated by Finance Director from time to time.
Requirements & Functional skills
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
2. 10+ years of relevant working experience
3. Experience in Manufacturing or Industrial companies and Auditing. Shared service background is a plus.
3. Capacity to lead and execute expansion projects in an efficient manner; improve speed and efficiency levels across the Stay-in-Business operation, as well as part of any growth strategy.
4. Capacity to adapt to the constant changes and demands of the market; short, medium and long-term visions to stay ahead of the competition in all issues associated with the business.
5. Exposure to accounting system implementation at a regional scale is a plus. Experience with JDE, ERP or SAP.
6. Member of Chartered Accountants body, min. MIA.
