JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities
• Product Development Support: The NPI Engineer works closely with the product development team to provide input and technical expertise during the design and development phase of new products. They may offer suggestions for design improvements, manufacturability, cost optimisation, and product testing strategies.
• Process Development and Optimisation: The NPI Engineer is responsible for developing and optimising manufacturing processes for new products. This involves designing and implementing production workflows, creating assembly and testing procedures, identifying and resolving process issues, and ensuring efficient and effective manufacturing operations.
• Manufacturing Readiness: The NPI Engineer assesses the readiness of the manufacturing facilities and resources for new product production. They collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure proper equipment, tools, and resources are available, and production lines are set up and validated to meet quality and efficiency standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective collaboration with various departments is crucial in this role. The NPI Engineer works closely with product development, engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and other teams to ensure a smooth transition from product development to full-scale manufacturing. They coordinate and communicate technical information, project updates, and requirements to stakeholders.
• Quality Assurance and Control: The NPI Engineer ensures that quality standards and specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process. They may develop and implement quality control plans, conduct product testing and inspections, analyse data to identify trends or issues, and collaborate with quality teams to address any deviations or nonconformities.
• Project Management: The NPI Engineer plays a project management role, overseeing the NPI process from start to finish. They develop project plans, set timelines, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure on-time delivery of new products. They may also manage risks, resolve project-related issues, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement: The NPI Engineer actively seeks opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction. They analyse manufacturing data, identify inefficiencies, and propose and implement process enhancements to optimise production processes, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality and profitability.
Requirements• Minimum 3 years of experience in product engineering / manufacturing engineering (sheet metal or precision manufacturing preferred).
• Experience with CNC programming, laser cutting, bending, clinching.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments
• Possess a commitment to continuous improvement, and a focus on maintaining high safety and quality standards.
