JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Responsible for the overall accounting function of the Finance Department.

Responsibilities

• Timely Financial Closing & Reporting
• Ensure the timely closing of monthly accounts and report the Company’s financial performance to the management.
• Process Improvement & Policy Evaluation
• Continuously monitor and evaluate departmental policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, improve service quality, and deliver better information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Budget Coordination & Variance Analysis
• Collaborate with department heads to develop the annual budget. Monitor financial performance against the budget, highlight variances, and recommend contingency plans to address shortfalls.
• Audit Liaison & Annual Report Preparation
• Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audit planning and execution. Oversee the preparation of audited financial statements and the annual report.
• Tax Planning & Compliance
• Perform tax planning to optimise tax position. Ensure accuracy and compliance of tax computations prepared by tax agents in line with current tax regulations.
• Cash Flow Management & Payment Approvals
• Oversee the Company’s cash flow to ensure healthy liquidity. Review and approve the company payments in accordance with financial policies.
• Month-End Closing & Reconciliations
• Review month-end journal entries, adjustments, balance sheet reconciliations, inter-company confirmations, prepayments, accruals, and supporting schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Tax Estimation & Revision
• Estimate annual tax instalments and coordinate with tax agents to revise estimates when necessary.
• Other Duties
• Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

• Educational Qualification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or MICPA.
• Professional Membership
• Preferably a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
• Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of working experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Analytical Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Able to connect financial results with operational performance drivers, evaluate alternatives, and recommend improvements.
• Industry Knowledge
• Knowledge and/or working experience in the construction industry is preferred.
• Initiative & Commitment
• Highly self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven with a strong commitment to responsibilities.
• Communication Skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Technical Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Accounting Systems
• Experience with accounting software; knowledge of the IFCA system will be an added advantage.
