JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities
- Managing all tax compliance, tax issues, transfer pricing, tax planning and tax advisory supporting the business units. More specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for
- Managing relationships with external service providers, ensuring the provision of the Off-shore Group's direct and indirect tax compliance services, transfer pricing compliance services and tax accounting services; and
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with all taxation laws and regulations, including timely and accurate tax filings and payments, and adopting appropriate tax positions.
- Ensuring compliance with the Group tax controls and procedures, working in a globally integrated tax function with a strong tradition in innovation, you will possess strong teaming and communication skills and apply a collaborative mindset.
- Leading annual tax budget planning and preparation with the respective Head of Finance.
- Review and compilation of VAT forecast
- Monthly withholding tax returns and consolidated tax payment report
- Corporate income tax and deferred tax calculations for all offshore companies for annual audit purposes
- Annual GTP survey report and monitor GTP covenants compliance every year
- Compilation of monthly tax meeting materials and also ad-hoc reports requested by Corporate offices
- The various business units will seek expert advice on tax questions in both domestic and cross-border contexts.
- In the area of tax planning, the successful candidate will be part of the Corporate Tax team, supporting major M&A transactions and other strategic initiatives. More specifically, the responsibilities and skills of this role include:
- Providing tax advisory support to business units and support functions, including working across functions with Legal, Treasury, Finance and Accounting (including Shared Services Centres) teams to meet the overall Group’s strategic and operational tax objectives and initiatives.
- Managing all tax legislation and controversy developments, including driving lobbying efforts and ensuring legislative and judicial developments are assessed and communicated to internal stakeholders
- Prepare/review transfer pricing documentation, including CBCR reports and assist the business/operating units in implementing transfer pricing requirements on related companies’ transactions.
- Liaise with tax consultants to prepare reports, local files and master files in compliance with the BEPS requirements.
Requirements
- Possess strong skills and have an extensive background in tax operations, preferably with a combination of in-house experience with a multinational enterprise and relevant Big 4 experience
- You will have at least 12+ years of relevant tax experience, with an emphasis on tax operations experience
- Should have in-depth knowledge of corporate income taxes and income tax accounting, indirect taxes and transfer pricing
- Having a commercial outlook, strong business acumen and an awareness of risk are required
- Good communication skills in English are a prerequisite
- A hands-on approach with attention to detail and a high degree of flexibility is also required, as well as the ability to work under pressure
- SAP system knowledge is an added advantage
- Able to manage laterally with tax colleagues of different jurisdictions
- Familiar with tax regimes/DTA treaties of the Asian region (Indonesia, China, Pakistan), China, UAE, Brazil and Europe
- Some knowledge of the palm oil or plantation industry will be advantageous
