JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

A strategic role, playing a pivotal part in the Operational Leadership Team, with responsibility for successfully leading and developing the Engineering functions of the Company's Cash business unit to deliver optimum service and build strong customer relationships. Managing the P & L, working with colleagues in sales to ensure profitable growth in the context of being the lowest possible cost provider of device diagnostic engineering support. This will be achieved by implementing the most efficient and effective organization structure and by motivating, coaching and developing the teams, to effectively manage their people to deliver excellent customer service whilst controlling costs and optimising profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership 
    • Develop a strategic plan to enable future profitable growth of the engineering function. 
    • Lead by example and through others.
  • Performance
    • Set agreed and stretching targets for areas of responsibility and enable delivery against these targets.
    • Ensure efficient and effective processes are in place to deliver to exacting compliance standards and SLAs, ensuring delivery of optimal customer service. 
    • Develop an appropriate budget and ensure that functions in the area of responsibility work within their set budget, controlling costs and spending wisely.
  • Customer Focus
    • Build and develop relationships with key customers, in particular, identifying opportunities for growth.
    • Ensure appropriate onboarding support is provided for the operation and customer to take on a new engineering business.
    • Focus on delivery of service, meeting or exceeding SLAs and delighting the customer.
  • Expertise
    • Ensure that robust and effective safety, security, and regulatory standards are met and maintained across the operation. 
    • Demonstrate commercial acumen and financial awareness when leading the operation. 
    • Lead project teams for large scale change or new customer implementation as appropriate. 
  • Best People
    • Create, lead and develop successful teams within Engineering. 
    • Personally coach and develop the team, ensuring effective annual appraisals are held and promoting a coaching environment where others are actively encouraged to do the same.

Requirements

  • Possess at least a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree of Professional Degree, in Engineering or any relevant field. 
  • At least 10-20 years of working experience in related fields is required for this position.
  • Able to work in a team environment. 
  • Can demonstrate a successful leadership career including management of engineering teams or similar within a dispersed environment in a large business essential. 
  • Highly commercial and numerate with excellent written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.   
  • Possess an excellent spoken and written English with high initiatives and positive attitude.
  • Proven track record of successful customer engagement. 
  • Pleasant attitude and personality and able to work independently with minimum supervision. 
  • Operational leadership experience in a blue-collar, unionized environment
