JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose:
To provide overall direction in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale Business Intelligence solutions to meet U Mobile’s strategic Information provision, management and decision support requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Management
- KPI (Key Performance Index) setting for direct reports, monitor and periodic review to assure KPI met
- Overseeing the management of the department, giving leadership to the team and developing staff
- Team learning and knowledge sharing within the team; appropriate strategic timing for people up-skilling in line with newly developed technologies and strategic practices
- Coaching and guidance of subordinates.
- Recruit, develop and retain people with outstanding skills, qualifications and potential.
- Performance management and identification of training needs.
- Accountable for a customer-centric culture and shift to legendary service provision.
2. Budget
- Assist in the forecasting, planning and development of the portfolio’s budget and business plans for the department
- Manage and optimize departmental budget, ensuring all expenditure is in line with the agreed budgets.
- Ensure that Yearly CAPEX Plans are put in place and that each team member provides proper input and information into these
- Support the creation of the business case for initiatives and projects in functional areas
3. Strategic Input
- Constantly monitor data science trends, emerging tools and technologies to continually improve frameworks, processes and best practices for predictive models
- Develop goals, strategies, and plans needed to achieve the portfolios vision and build the capabilities to enable optimal delivery with input from relevant stakeholders.
- Align planning against the strategic intent of the company with agreed business outcomes within the portfolio, relevant IT Architecture Enterprise principles, key approved decisions and enterprise-wide programs.
- Recommend strategic business opportunities to deliver medium to long-term benefit and growth to the organization and its customers.
- Translate the strategic vision into intelligence requirements and drive the fulfillment of these technical requirements.
- Analyze business change drivers to determine business, information, solution and information technology requirements.
- Investigate strategic IT trends (including initiating and executing relevant proof of concepts) and provides feedback regarding the impact and alignment required.
4. “Informationalizing” the Business
- Ensure that data design and systems are able to support the increase in revenue through sales pipeline graphs and analysis
- Support the business with customer Value Management by developing models to analyze customer behavior in order to upsell and cross-sell.
- Develop and implement an end-user self-service reporting & analytics strategy (data models, reporting tools, training, testing & review, and retirement of abandoned reports)
- Develop a governance model for analytics and reporting to drive standards and standardization in decision-making tools and reporting
- Analyze complex data systems and document data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies
- Build and manage data sets for reporting integration, dashboards, data visualization, data mining, and predictive analytics
5. Project Delivery
- Develop and drive the execution of agreed projects
- Drive the implementation, tracking, monitoring and compliance of Projects
- Contract management in line with Procurement Policies
- Co-ordinate project reporting
- Ensure effective implementation of the integrated project management model
- Risk management
6. Business Analysis
- Perform Business Analysis in line with the methodology and guidelines
- Identify ways to fine-tune policies, processes and systems in line with changing work practices
- Determine, document, and review requirements for projects within the scope of the value stream or impacting processes and systems
- Design, analyze and document workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness
- Identify Business Improvement and Optimisation opportunities that will result in improvement of process performance
- Ensure that benchmarking is conducted with other companies and organizations within and outside the industry.
- Construct business cases for initiations proposed by the business. Research and consider best practice, local conditions, trends, as well as competitor activity
- Identify and implement innovative ways to use minimum resources to achieve maximum outputs
7. Partners and Vendors Management
- Manage and monitor KPIs to ensure all IT partners’ deliveries are done according to contract SLA as well as T&C
- Ensure that all Senior team members are engaging in Vendor Relations and find ways to Leverage the vendor as much as possible in order to manage costs and that vendors provide Quarterly reporting
- Ensure that all Senior team members are involved in Contract ownership and that they update a central location with information on what the vendor supplies and the requirements on amendments needed (or on a new contract)
8. Stakeholders Management
- Manage collaboration and relationship between different departments in delivering solutions to meet customers’ business needs
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Architecture and application development teams
9. Timely Reporting and Analysis
- Periodic reporting of project status and escalation of issues as and when required
- Conduct project post mortems to identify successful project elements and improvement areas
10. Others
- Undertake any other duties and functions that are assigned by the CIO
Key Experiences and Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science/ IT/ Electrical & Electronic/ Telecommunication or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience.
- Experience in Big Data technologies, Billing system, CRM and other Telco Operations Systems.
- Excellent communication skills – providing a verbal and written communication that is outstanding to both direct reports and senior management as well as other stakeholders
- Flexible and adaptable – capable of changing direction where required and showing flexibility to meet new demands

- Forms business partnerships that help drive the BI and Customer Value Management strategy forward
